Buster Books, the children’s imprint of Michael O’Mara Books, is to publish the first children’s non-fiction book by renowned space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock (MBE).

Dr Maggie’s Grand Tour of the Solar System will take readers on a mind-blowing visual and fact-based journey, visiting the most magnificent sights and spectacles outer space has to offer

Featuring show-stopping illustrations, stunning photographs and fascinating facts, the book reveals the wonders of space science as readers explore moons, asteroids and comets, jump aboard space stations and learn how to live on Mars or spot solar flares on the Sun.

Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock (MBE) is a space scientist and pioneering figure in communicating science to children and adults, in public and on screen. Committed to inspiring new generations of astronauts, engineers and scientists, Aderin-Pocock has given a ‘Tours of the Universe’ talk to over 60,000 people across the globe.

In 2009, Dr Maggie was appointed an MBE for her services to science and education. She currently presents the new series of The Sky at Night on BBC 4 and Mini Stargazing for CBeebies.

Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock (MBE) said: “Many of us have dreamed of getting out into space but with limited time and funds few of us have made it. With this book we can make the trip of a lifetime to the very edge of the Solar System. Join me as we make the ultimate journey, a Grand Tour of the Solar System.”

Frances Evans, Buster Books Senior Editor said: “Fun, inspiring and totally mind-blowing, this immersive tour of the Solar System reflects Dr Maggie’s life-long passion for sharing the wonders of space with children. It is an action-packed tour that leaves no question unanswered and no meteorite unturned.

“It has been an absolute joy to work with Dr Maggie over the last year and we cannot wait for lift-off in September.”

Lesley O’Mara, Michael O’Mara Books Managing Director, acquired world rights from Vicki McIvor at Take Three Management Ltd. Dr Maggie’s Grand Tour of the Solar System will publish in hardback on 5th September 2019, priced £12.99.
