Summary:

Enter the world of gravity-defying 3D street art and the artists who have defined the movement. Featuring full colour photography throughout and an exclusive list of graffiti artists from around the world.

3D Street Art is the first book to bring together the artists who have defined the immersive graffiti genre. From New York City to Tokyo, Berlin to London and beyond, and including an exclusive list of graffiti artists from around the world such as Daim, Peeta, Leon Keer, Hoxxoh, Cee Pil, JanIsDeMan, Astro and Lady Pink among others, this exclusive book shares their incredible artworks alongside everything you need to know about the artist themselves.

Curated and written by Erni Vales, one of the innovators of the 3D movement, this is a comprehensive look at the anamorphic artwork that has been sprawled over our street surfaces, buildings and outdoor spaces. Vales also looks at their techniques and the critical – and public – responses, as well as their social and political messaging, making this an unforgettable overview of 3D graffiti scene and how it’s changed the face of modern art.

Reviews:

I love how the evolution of the 3D graffiti and street art movement has come along over the years. Having all these artists featured in one place, at the same time, is big! Even better, Erni Vales – a pioneer of the style – put it together.

Roger Gastman, graffiti historian, curator and art dealer

Erni’s book is a must have for any artist whose serious about 3D lettering

Cey Adams, artist and author

Erni has been a great friend since our days at High School of Art & Design. I remember opening a closet in Erni’s apartment back then, from floor to ceiling were black books – obsessed with collecting, acknowledging and observing other artists’ work. And here he is today – many years later – still revering the work of his peers, bringing light to the brilliant artists in this book. The brilliant artwork. He was incredible then and a master now, not only in his artistry, but in his generosity

About the Author:

Erni Vales

Erni Vales is best known for his development of the 3D graffiti style that has influenced thousands worldwide. In the eighties, a young artist was sneaking out from his home to put his name onto the flanks of subway cars and walls. By the nineties he was transforming the walls of New York City to Chicago and Miami into his personal canvases. He went on to paint murals for two major TV series, The Flashon CBS and Viper on NBC, as well as for notable movies such as Seven. He also collaborated with famed photographer David LaChapelle, creating sets for many celebrities. It was while in Hollywood in 1993 that Vales painted his first ‘3D’ piece that helped to spark a worldwide style. Now, after four decades of designs, he has an A-list of corporate clients, from Pepsi, Dos Quis, Absolut, Wu-Tang, Def Jam and Absolut Vodka, among others. He launched his own exclusive graffiti gallery in Miami, called EVLworld, and showcased 169 of his paintings, which he created in just thirteen months.
