Dr Campbell Price is one of the UK’s leading Egyptologists. He received his BA, MA and PhD in Egyptology from the University of Liverpool, where he is now an Honorary Research Fellow. Since 2011, he has been Curator of Egypt and Sudan at Manchester Museum, part of the University of Manchester, home to one of the UK’s largest collections of Egyptian artefacts.
Campbell has undertaken fieldwork at Zawiyet Umm el-Rakham, Saqqara, and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, and has published widely for both academic and general audiences. His recent books include Pocket Museum: Ancient Egypt (Thames & Hudson, 2018), Golden Mummies of Egypt (Manchester University Press, 2023), Brief Histories: Ancient Egypt (Orion, 2024), Totally Chaotic History: Ancient Egypt Gets Unruly! (Walker, 2024) and Ancient Egypt in 50 Discoveries (EES, 2025). Forthcoming works include The High Steward Senenmut: His Life and Afterlife (AUC Press, 2026).
Between 2021 and 2025 he served as Chair of Trustees for the Egypt Exploration Society, the UK’s leading charity supporting Egyptian cultural research.
