James Perry was introduced to the vampire squid early, as an economics student in the 1990s. He was unsettled by what he saw as a disastrous mistake in the design of modern capitalism, and his life became a quest to understand it. He started his practical learning as a graduate trainee at Cadbury Ltd before he joined his brother to create COOK, an independent premium frozen food brand. Since 2010, he has been exploring fixes for the vampire squid, co-founding an asset management firm, Snowball, launching the B Corp movement in the UK and chairing Our Future, which empowers citizens to create the future in their post-industrial hometowns. He and his wife, Jen, are also founder members of Patriotic Millionaires UK, campaigning to redesign the tax system.
James has written for national newspapers (e.g. the Telegraph and TheGuardian) and has been interviewed on numerous radio and TV shows (e.g. 5Live, Times Radio and Talk TV), as well as numerous podcasts. He regularly speaks at conferences and events.
