Buster Books partners with ClientEarth to publish children’s eco-hero book

Buster Books, the children’s imprint of Michael O’Mara Books, is partnering with ClientEarth – an environmental charity run by lawyers to protect the planet’s ecosystems and people – to publish an environmental book encouraging children to take care of our planet.

Guardians of the Planet: How to be an Eco-Hero will include a foreword by ClientEarth trustee Brian Eno.

Written by award-winning author Clive Gifford and illustrated by wildlife artist Jonathan Woodward, who specialises in a cut-paper collage style using recycled materials, the book will also be printed in full colour using special environmentally-friendly waterless inks on FSC paper.

Through a mix of compelling facts, creative activities and proactive tips, each chapter of the book focuses on a particular area of the environment, inspiring children to engage with environmental issues in everyday situations.

From reusing clothes and composting food to reducing water waste and giving wildlife a helping hand, the unique ‘Guardian’ theme of the book provides everything a child needs to protect particular areas of the environment. For example, readers can find out how to care for the oceans as a ‘Keeper of the Coast’, plant trees as a ‘Friend of the Forests’ and learn all about recycling as a ‘Home Hero’.

Lesley O’Mara, Managing Director of Michael O’Mara Books, said: “Michael O’Mara Books have been supporters of ClientEarth for several years and we’re delighted to partner with this pioneering charity to produce a beautiful book, which encourages children to engage with environmental problems and feel confident in doing what they can to help save our planet.”

Karla Hill, Global Programmes Director at ClientEarth, said: “Without decisive action, it’s our children who will have to live with the worst effects of climate change. We all need to tackle the problem but it’s really important that the next generation understands what causes climate change and how they can help ensure a healthy future for their planet. That’s why we’re thrilled to be partnering with Michael O’Mara Books on this fantastic book, which will help educate and inspire young readers.”

Guardians of the Planet: How to be an Eco-Hero by Clive Gifford and Jonathan Woodward will publish on 26th September 2019. All royalties from the sale of the book will be donated to ClientEarth. Buster Books will use the Twitter hashtag #GuardiansofthePlanet for publication.
